No contacts needed on trips
I can see! I had no idea how great it would be to have 20/20 vision. I have never had good vision. My miracle vision is all due to a lens implant procedure my new optometrist recommended. The lens is called a PanOptix.Toric lens.
They told me in recovery that it would take my brain a couple weeks to adjust to my new vision. Specifically, depth perception could be impacted. While this might be a nuisance for most people, for me, the impact was profound.
My walking was slower and tentative for a couple weeks. I felt unsteady when I moved. I was glad to have Donnie take my hand every time we took any walk anywhere. He says no falls or stumbles on his watch. Now that both eyes are done and a month has passed, I am feeling more stable and confident. In addition to improved walking, I have several other observations on how these lenses have improved my life and dealing with MS.
My morning and night time routines are simplified, less encumbered. Not having contacts to put in or take out, gives me about fifteen more minutes both in the morning and evening. Our Adopt-a-Highway work
Finally, and best of all is that the daily contact drama is eliminated. I had two very stressful situations removing my contacts in a six months time frame. In both situations I couldn’t find the contact either in my eye or on the counter or floor. My ritual was to take the contact out of my eye; see it on my finger, then gently place it into the case for overnight cleaning. Most nights it would take several tries before I got both out. After three tries on one eye, I frequently stopped to do something else. Usually, getting my mind off the contact removal would help my eye relax enough to get it out. After eight to ten tries, the eye would become so irritated it felt like the contact was still in. I couldn’t tell just looking at my eye.
Not having to deal with contacts is a game changer for me. It’s like a big load off my mind every day. Every morning and every evening I enjoy the moment of realizing there are no more contacts to deal with. That also means no more glasses to clean. I wonder how long this euphoria will last? Seeing is wonderful! These lenses corrected the astigmatism, got rid of the cataracts, and make it possible for me to see details far away. I also see great at mid range like the computer or reading piano music. Reading fine print on my phone is great. It all seems too good to be true. Life is good!
Wonderful! I can SEE why this issue is so important to you. So glad you have some new freedom!
